Why A Generator
Why Tampa Bay homeowners add backup power
Hurricane-ready
Tampa Bay storm season makes outages routine. Backup power keeps your home running when the grid doesn't.
Keeps essentials running
Your AC, refrigerator, and medical equipment stay powered through the outage — not just the lights.
Automatic transfer
Standby units switch over in seconds the moment utility power fails — no scrambling with cords in the dark.
Safe & legal
Installed with a proper transfer switch or interlock — never dangerous, illegal backfeeding through a wall outlet.
Standby vs Portable Interlock
Two ways to stay powered
Both are safe and code-compliant when installed correctly. We'll help you pick the one that fits your home and budget.
Option A
Automatic Standby
Permanently installed outside the home
Automatic start and transfer when power fails
Powers the whole home or large loads
Fueled by natural gas or propane
Completely hands-off — nothing for you to do
Option B
Portable + Interlock
Lower upfront cost
Manual start and refueling during an outage
Powers selected essential circuits
Requires an interlock kit or transfer switch for safety
Great for homeowners who want a budget-friendly option

Questions
Generator questions
Standby or portable — which is right for me?
If you want fully automatic, hands-off whole-home backup, a standby generator is the answer. If you want a lower upfront cost and don't mind manually starting and refueling, a portable generator with a code-compliant interlock covers your essentials. We'll help you decide based on your home and budget.
Can I just plug a generator into an outlet?
No — this is called backfeeding, and it is both dangerous and illegal. It can electrocute utility crews working to restore power, damage your home's wiring, and start fires. A generator must connect through a proper transfer switch or interlock kit. There are no exceptions, and we will never install it any other way.
What fuel do standby generators use?
Standby generators generally run on natural gas or propane, so there's no gasoline to store or pour during a storm. We'll confirm the right fuel source for your home as part of the assessment.
Will it power my whole house?
It depends on the system we size for you. A larger standby unit can power a whole home, while a portable-plus-interlock setup powers the essential circuits you choose. We'll match the system to the loads that matter most.
